On Tuesday, a lawyer approached the Lahore High Court (LHC) to direct the relevant authorities to ban the most popular social media app in Pakistan, TikTok.
Advocate Nadeem Sarwar said in his petition that the video sharing app is disastrous for the younger generation as it not only wastes time and money but also causes nonsense.
In addition, he said, blackmail and harassment are on the rise due to tick bites. He added that if the ban was not imposed, it would be detrimental to the country's social fabric.
Therefore, he directed the High Court to direct the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) to impose a permanent ban on the use of TikTok.
On July 12, several citizens protested in Peshawar against the Tick and Player Unknown Battlefield (PUBG).
Protesters held banners with slogans written on both apps and called on the government to impose a permanent ban on their use in the country.
Earlier, the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) banned the online game PUBG across Pakistan.
According to a statement issued by the PTA spokesperson, PUBG's game service in Pakistan has been temporarily suspended.
Following the sharp rise in suicides due to PUBG, the Punjab IG police had also sent a letter to the PTA to impose a complete ban on the sport.
Lahore CPO Zulfiqar Hameed said that so far 3 youths have committed suicide due to addiction to this sport.
It is noteworthy that many people around the world committed suicide while playing this violent game.
